Game day deserves great food. But standing over a pot of bubbling oil while the game is on? Nobody wants that. These air fryer snacks give you all the crispy, golden, crowd-pleasing flavor of deep-fried appetizers without the mess, the smell, or the calories. Every recipe is ready in under 20 minutes, which means you can have a full snack spread on the table before kickoff.

The air fryer was practically built for snack food. It excels at creating that crunchy exterior and melty interior that makes appetizers irresistible. Mozzarella sticks come out with a shatteringly crisp coating. Jalapeno poppers get that perfect char. Wings develop crackling skin. And you do it all with a tablespoon of oil instead of a quart.

We are sharing two full recipes below -- our most-requested air fryer snacks -- plus previews of six more from the book. Whether you are hosting a watch party or just need something better than chips for your couch session, these recipes deliver.

Full Recipe #1: Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks

Golden, crunchy, with a molten cheese center that stretches for days. These are better than any frozen box version you have ever had.

Recipe Details

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes (plus 30 minutes freezer time)
  • Cook Time: 6 minutes
  • Total Time: 16 minutes active (46 with freezing)
  • Temperature: 390 degrees F
  • Servings: 12 sticks

Ingredients

  • 6 string cheese sticks, cut in half
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 3/4 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Cooking spray
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cut the string cheese sticks in half to create 12 shorter sticks.
  2. Set up your breading station. Place flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan and garlic powder in a third.
  3. Bread each stick. Roll in flour, dip in egg, then press into the breadcrumb mixture, coating all sides. For extra crunch, dip in egg and breadcrumbs a second time.
  4. Freeze for 30 minutes. Place breaded sticks on a parchment-lined plate and freeze. This step is essential -- it prevents the cheese from melting out before the coating crisps up.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 390 degrees F.
  6. Spray the sticks lightly with cooking spray on all sides.
  7. Air fry for 6 minutes, flipping halfway through at the 3-minute mark. The coating should be deep golden brown.
  8. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce.

Pro Tip

The freezing step is not optional. If you skip it, the cheese will melt and leak out before the breading has time to crisp. Plan ahead and bread them in the morning, freeze, and they are ready to air fry when you need them.

Full Recipe #2: Air Fryer Jalapeno Poppers

Creamy, spicy, and wrapped in crispy bacon. These poppers are always the first thing to disappear at any gathering.

Recipe Details

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 8 minutes
  • Total Time: 18 minutes
  • Temperature: 370 degrees F
  • Servings: 12 poppers

Ingredients

  • 6 large jalapeno peppers
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6 slices thin-cut bacon, cut in half

Instructions

  1. Prep the jalapenos. Slice each pepper in half lengthwise. Use a spoon to scrape out the seeds and membranes. Wear gloves if you are sensitive to the heat.
  2. Make the filling. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Fill each jalapeno half generously with the cheese mixture, mounding it slightly.
  4. Wrap each popper with a half slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick if needed.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees F.
  6. Arrange poppers in a single layer in the basket, cheese side up.
  7. Cook for 8 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the filling is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let cool for 2 minutes before serving. The filling is extremely hot right out of the fryer.

Nutrition (Per 3 Poppers)

| Nutrient | Amount | |----------|--------| | Calories | 240 | | Protein | 11g | | Carbs | 3g | | Fat | 20g | | Fiber | 1g | | Sodium | 420mg |

Heat Level Note

Removing the seeds and membranes makes these mild enough for most people. If you want more heat, leave a few seeds in. If you want less, soak the hollowed jalapeno halves in cold water for 15 minutes before filling -- this pulls out extra capsaicin.
